No Surgery Nose Jobs Not A Great Idea

One of the latest fads to hit the plastic surgery circuit is the no surgery nose job. While it may be tempting to alter your looks without going under the knife, it is not clear that injections are a safer or more cost effective solution than closed rhinoplasty. What is a no surgery nose job? A no surgery nose job is exactly what it sounds like, it is a way to re-shape the nose without going under the knife. This is typically accomplished by injecting a filler, often hyaluronic acid, into areas of the face that patients would like to make larger or reshape.Fillers have been around for ages, but like so many things, they have been made more popular by the Kardashians. Several of the famous sisters have admitted to getting them, often while also denying they have had plastic surgery, so fillers have risen in popularity and also gained a reputation for being something other than plastic surgery even though that distinction is a bit blurry. Is that a good or bad thing? The reasons fillers are not always considered plastic surgery is that they can be done in a matter of minutes, and when done correctly they are not permanent. Whether you consider these characteristics to be positive or negative depends on your point of view. The fact that fillers are relatively easy to do means that fillers are easier to get than nose jobs. This is both a good and a bad thing. Just like how there are fly by night surgeons out there butchering people’s noses at cut rate prices, there are people doing fillers that shouldn’t be. This is alarming because if a filler is not done right, the blood to the nose can be cut off, causing the tissue to turn black and die. This is an irreversible side effect. This is true even though fillers are advertised as something that is not permanent. When done correctly, fillers and their effects are not permanent. The effects last somewhere between 6 and 12 months. If you like how a filler looks, you are going to need to have a new injection at least once a year. You might even have to go in more often if the filler dissolves at an uneven rate, leaving you with a very strange looking nose. Each injection puts you at risk of having something go wrong, and the cost of injections will ultimately far surpass that of a traditional nose job.Nose jobs are one and done. Nose jobs are serious medical procedures, and should not be taken lightly, but going under the knife once is often far preferable to getting an endless series of fillers. With today’s advances, a closed rhinoplasty can be done in a matter of hours. Because the columella (the area between the nostrils) is not cut, there are no visible scars and the healing time is much faster than with a traditional open nose job. There is no packing or cast required, so the only sign that you have had a nose job is bruising and swelling. If you are unhappy with your nose, you should consider all of your options.
